Our Volunteer System

U3A maintains a policy of engaging its members as volunteers to fulfil all of the administrative and teaching tasks needed to keep the organisation operating effectively.  This volunteering allows us to keep our Membership Fees to a minimum, noting that we are a non-for-profit organisation with limited resources.   It also allows us to tap in to the many and diverse life, professional and other skills of our members.   Some Members keep their professional skills up to date by volunteering to run courses.

At Wheelers Hill U3A, we acknowledge our members’ contribution by enabling all volunteers to enroll into classes for the following year ahead of others. We are happy to say that most of our members take advantage of this incentive.    The following is a list of the roles available to our Volunteers:

Program LeadersManage the many Classes and Activities run by the Class and Group LeadersTimes as required
PALS and Leader advertisingPrepare and place adverts in local newspaper and other media outlets. Liaise with photographer and CommitteeTimes as required
Photographer Take photos of classes, events and outings for posting in the EVENTS section of the websiteTimes as required
Newsletter storiesPrepare the monthly Newsletter, work with the Photographer and the Committee MembersTimes as required
FinancialsAssist the Treasurer and the Committee MembersTimes as required
MarketingPromote the organisation in local media outlets to gain new Members and Funds. Also liaise with the CommitteeTimes as required
