U3A maintains a policy of engaging its members as volunteers to fulfil all of the administrative and teaching tasks needed to keep the organisation operating effectively. This volunteering allows us to keep our Membership Fees to a minimum, noting that we are a non-for-profit organisation with limited resources. It also allows us to tap in to the many and diverse life, professional and other skills of our members. Some Members keep their professional skills up to date by volunteering to run courses.
At Wheelers Hill U3A, we acknowledge our members’ contribution by enabling all volunteers to enroll into classes for the following year ahead of others. We are happy to say that most of our members take advantage of this incentive. The following is a list of the roles available to our Volunteers:
|Reception and meet and greet||Welcome people, direct people to classes, handle general inquiries, manage the phone etc.||Mondays, Tuesday or Thursdays|
|Administration support||Assist the Committee members, manage the email system, assist Course Leaders etc.||Mondays, Tuesday or Thursdays|
|Enrolments and membership||Manage Memberships, collect fees for Treasurer, reply to email inquiries etc.||Mondays, Tuesday or Thursdays|
|Class and Group Leaders||Prepare a course, organise a Class or Activity and conduct feedback surveys||Mondays, Tuesday or Thursdays|
|Program Leaders||Manage the many Classes and Activities run by the Class and Group Leaders||Times as required|
|PALS and Leader advertising||Prepare and place adverts in local newspaper and other media outlets. Liaise with photographer and Committee||Times as required|
|Photographer||Take photos of classes, events and outings for posting in the EVENTS section of the website||Times as required|
|Newsletter stories||Prepare the monthly Newsletter, work with the Photographer and the Committee Members||Times as required|
|Financials||Assist the Treasurer and the Committee Members||Times as required|
|Marketing||Promote the organisation in local media outlets to gain new Members and Funds. Also liaise with the Committee||Times as required|
|Advertising||Assist the Marketing coordinator, organise posters and other publicity material||Times as required|
|Website coordinator||Manage its content, add content, liaise with the Photographer for new photos, gather statistics etc.||Times as required|
|Committee Members||Assist in the overall running of the organisation and other Committee Members|
